Books and Commodities

It’s impossible for me to pop into Waterstones for a browse and leave empty-handed. Today’s purchase: Ben Macintyre’s ‘Agent Sonya: Lover, Mother, Soldier, Spy’.

  1. RRP £25. £20 in Waterstones (£5 off and exclusive Waterstones content) and £12 at Amazon. With this differential, it’s incredible that Waterstones and other independent bookshops are still surviving. Perhaps the secret to survival is exclusivity, partnerships with publishers that set the product apart. [return]
